Dena Kemmet has been named North Dakota State University Extension’s central district director and Lesley Lubenow is the new east district director.

“Both bring an exceptional skill set to the positions, and I am quite pleased they accepted our offers to be part of the team which leads NDSU Extension,” says Greg Lardy, NDSU’s vice president for Agricultural Affairs.

Kemmet has more than 28 years of work experience with NDSU Extension. She has served as an office support staff member in Mercer County and now is the family and community wellness agent for Mercer County. She also served as an interim district director for northwestern North Dakota in 2017.

She has a master of science degree in child development and family science from NDSU.

As the central district director, Kemmet will be responsible for leadership and oversight for Benson, Burleigh, Dickey, Eddy, Emmons, Foster, Kidder, LaMoure, Logan, McIntosh, Pierce, Ramsey, Rolette, Sheridan, Stutsman, Towner and Wells counties. She will begin her duties on May 16 and will work out of NDSU Extension’s district office in Bismarck.

Lubenow (pictured above) also has experience working with NDSU Extension. She has been a cropping systems specialist for eight years and is based at NDSU’s Langdon Research Extension Center. In addition, she is an interim assistant district director for northeastern North Dakota. Prior to that, she was an Extension agent in Steele and Pembina counties for seven years.

She has a master of science degree in plant sciences from NDSU.

As the east district director, Lubenow will be responsible for leadership and oversight for Barnes, Cass, Cavalier, Grand Forks, Griggs, Nelson, Pembina, Ransom, Richland, Sargent, Steele, Traill and Walsh counties. She will begin her duties on June 1 and will be based at the Langdon Research Extension Center.
