CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Carrington Health officials are stressing the importance of wearing face masks when in public to help prevent the spread of disease during the pandemic.

Foster County Public Health Director Lisa Hilbert says social distancing practices are still highly encouraged, but wearing a face mask when in public could be just as important. She says this includes public places like grocery stores and even in the workplace.

Hilbert says wearing a face masks is not designed to protect the wearer, but rather other people around you. She says a cost-effective face mask can be created, but has to meet some specifications.

Scams also continue to remain prevalent during this time. Danielle Koepplin, Foster County Clerk of Court and Public Information Officer, says there are some popular scams currently going around.

Koepplin says these scams are also coming through emails. She added that if you receive calls or emails that seem too good to be true or asking for personal information to not answer them.
