JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – University of Jamestown’s Dr. Jason Kihle is spending his time recruiting and building up their pep band and drum line for the future.
Dr. Kihle is the Assistant Director of Bands and Percussion at the University of Jamestown. He teaches Jazz and pep band. He’s also been tasked with building up the drum line.
Kihle says they had about 35 to 40 students who comprised the Big Orange Pep Band. He added that building a drum line will work with the pep band, but can also exist as it’s own entity.
Kihle says having two different groups will allow them to have more of a presence at events and future games. He added that the University has been focused on growing the music department, investing money into equipment and scholarships for students
Dr. Kihle added that they will be looking to hold a percussion camp in the future and invite any and all students interested in playing in Pep Band or the Drum Line to tryout at the beginning of the school year.
