OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – What started as an assignment for school has evolved into a heartwarming story.
Oakes High School senior Shayla Novak was assigned a proposal project by her English professor to impact a community, so Novak developed the “You Are Loved” project.
Even though the origin of the project came from a school assignment, Novak found the idea and inspiration, partially, from the “A World of Hearts” Facebook page. “A World of Hearts” is a group that “spreads love & happiness during this uncertain time by putting up hearts on your windows, your house, your garage, anywhere for everyone to see,” according to its Facebook page.
Novak was inspired by “A World of Hearts” but also by someone in town.
Mirroring “A World of Hearts,” Novak created a “You Are Loved” Facebook page and it caught on. As of Wednesday afternoon, the group had over one thousand members.
“Actually, I didn’t expect it to take off as much as it did,” said Novak.
The “You Are Loved” Project’s Facebook page and pictures submitted from the community can be found with the link below.
