JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police & Fire Committee had the latest discussions Thursday surrounding the need for a new ladder truck.

Mayor Dwaine Heinrich stated that the action plan called for the state to pay one-third of the cost with the city and contributions making up the final total. He says the ladder truck was on hold for delivery until August.

Heinrich says the hold on the truck will expire in May, but because of the pandemic, they haven’t been able to make proper announcements. He does say there are around $250,000 in commitments from business and industry donations.

With these donations, Heinrich says they’ve met their first goal and will be able to move forward with ordering the truck.

Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther says the city’s ladder truck is in the process of being built. He added that they can utilize funds from their Equipment Replacement funds and put that towards purchasing the ladder truck.

The committee moved forward with purchasing the ladder truck.
