JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – As of Wednesday, April 22nd, there have been three reported cases of COVID-19 in Stutsman County. The North Dakota Health Department stated that all of these cases were contracted through community spread.
But what is community spread?
Central Valley Health District Unit Administrator Robin Iszler says this means someone has been infected with the disease in the area and may be unsure of where they got it.
Iszler added that there are different ways the disease can spread in the community. She stressed that person-to-person is the mostly likely way the disease could spread.
Iszler says running into the store to grab prescription or buying a gallon of milk does not fit the criteria of contracting COVID-19. She added that as far as the contracting the disease from objects? It’s not as likely as person-to-person spread for contract the disease.
CDC also encourages people going into the public for essential items to wear masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
