JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Both Jamestown and Pipestem Dams will be undergoing a large inspection this summer.
Pipestem Dam Manager James Dixon says these periodic inspections are conducted every five years.
Dixon says in late June, they’ll begin burning off vegetation on the slopes of the dam so the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers can inspect the face of the dam itself.
Dixon added that the inspection is a big event for the local dams. When the time for burning vegetation is known, there will be an announcement to notify residents of what is occurring.
