JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – James River Humane Society Board Member Jay Nitschke says now is a great time to consider adopting a cat or dog.
With more people self distancing or quarantining during the COVID-19 outbreak, Nitschke pointed out that this would be a great time for the pet to get acclimated to a new home life.
Nitschke says people who are home alone can rely on a pet for some company while self distancing. She added that those who are feeling “locked up” during this time can empathize with animals who spend each day in the shelter.
She says volunteers are an integral part of operation and during this time, they’re continuing to help the animals.
Nitschke says those who are looking to adopt can search petfinder or call ahead before visiting the shelter. For more information, visit jamesriverhumanesociety.org or call (701)-252-0747.
