CARRINGTON, N.D. (CHI) – CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington was recently named a 2020 Top 20 Critical Access Hospital for overall performance in the country.
This is the sixth time since 2014, CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington has been recognized with the Top 20 distinction.
The Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals, including CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington, scored best among critical access hospitals as determined by The Chartis Center for Rural Health for overall performance. The rankings were recently announced by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). An awards ceremony will be held during NRHA’s Critical Access Hospital Conference in September in Kansas City, Mo.
The Top 20 Critical Access Hospital “winners” are those hospitals who have achieved success in the overall performance based on a composite rating from eight indices of strength: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspectives, cost, charge and financial stability. This group was selected from The Chartis Center for Rural Health’s 2020 Top 100 Critical Access Hospital list, which was released earlier this year. CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington is an eight-time recipient of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospital designation.
Those hospitals that have been recognized as Top 20 Critical Access Hospital “best practice recipients” have achieved success one of two key areas of performance:
Quality index: A rating of hospital performance based on the percentile rank across the indicators of Hospital Compare Process of Care measures.
Patient perspective index: A rating of hospital performance aggregated and ranked across 10 domains of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS).
“CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington is very proud of the efforts of its medical providers and staff who have contributed to our hospital achieving this designation for the sixth time,” said Mariann Doeling, RN, President of CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington. “Our results as a top overall performing hospital in the United States means the communities we serve can count on us to deliver the local healthcare services they need.”
CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington is one of two Critical Access Hospitals in the United States to have won the Top 20 distinction six times in the overall performance category.
“It truly is the dedication of the medical providers, administration, and staff working at our organization that makes this distinction possible,” comments Doeling. “We’re thankful the community chooses to receive their healthcare locally, as that certainly makes an impact.”
