VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Hi-Liners have a new head volleyball coach. Activities Director Mike Schultz announced the hiring of Rebekah De Pesa as the new Hi-Liner volleyball coach Wednesday.
De Pesa replaces Mattie Cruff who resigned in January after two years as the Hi-Liner coach. Cruff led the Hi-Liners to a sixth place finish at the State Volleyball Tournament this past season and an 18-14 record. It was Valley City’s second appearance at the state tournament in three years and second in school history.
Coach De Pesa went to high school in Phoenix, AZ where she played 4 years of high school volleyball. After High School graduation, she attended Northwest College in Wyoming where she played volleyball for two years. Coach De Pesa transferred to VCSU and played her final two years for the Vikings. Coach De Pesa graduated from VCSU in 2013 with a degree in Exercise Science.
Coach De Pesa has worked volleyball camps, JO Volleyball, and was the head volleyball coach at Barnes County North in 2018. DePesa says she has had the opportunity to coach some of the players that would be coming back.
DePesa believes that familiarity will help with the transition to a new head coach.
Like all coaches, new and returning, DePesa will have to wait a while before she can begin her duties with the Hi-Liners
