JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – While the spring outlook for releases from Jamestown & Pipestem Dams looks a lot better now, Pipestem Dam Manager James Dixon says we’re not necessarily out of the woods yet.
In what was reported as the wettest year on record in 2019, releases from both dams were high. Dixon says they’ve had high releases before, but never over the course of winter.
With that in mind, Dixon says conditions could change quickly.
Releases are currently at 0 cfs combined as Dixon says they prepare for Spring melt. He says this will help alleviate water rising downstream.
Dixon also spoke about inspections that will occur later this summer. He says they’ll be burning off all vegetation along the dam for inspectors.
