JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC) is among many others who have had to change and adapt during the current pandemic.

On March 16th, TRAC was closed for a deep clean and disinfection. They have remained closed since.

TRAC Facilities Manager Amy Walters says on average, they employ 130 part- and full-time employees. She says during this time, all full-time employees continue to work during their closure.

Walters added that many part-time employees were students who have since moved back home or are now finishing school via distance learning. She says there were limited opportunities for part-time staff to help with cleaning and disinfection, however they no longer have work for them to complete.

In the OnTRAC Learning Center, Walters says they have been able to expand their service while also meeting guidelines for operating practices such as smaller group sizes, health screenings, and modified meal and play practices.

Walters added that through the Childcare Emergency Operations Program (CEOG), they have the ability to not require full tuition payments from families whose child is not currently attending. It also allows for additional children from 3 years old to 5th grade with priority given to families working in essential services

TRAC is also rolling out different programming through their Wellness and Group Exercise department to make sure community members stay physically active and healthy during this time.

Walters says what started out as some healthy recipes and relaxation activities has turned into more than 20 classes scheduled through Zoom, an online connective program.

One of the many questions asked of TRAC was memberships and rentals. Walters pointed out that policies and procedures are being developed to accomodate members regarding program fees, rentals and memberships. She says they have made the decision to not withdraw April membership fees.

Because TRAC relies on membership fees to operate, Walters says they have heard from many that they wish to continue supporting TRAC. She says those who wish can still have their memberships withdrawn or they can make a donation during this time.
