JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County will not have a physical polling location during the June 9th primary as conditions remain in effect to practice social distancing.
Stutsman County Auditor and COO Nicole Meland gave the latest regarding the primary and voting in the county. Following Governor Doug Burgum’s executive order on March 13th, permission was given to have counties authorize mail ballot elections to practice mitigating measures.
Meland says during a call-in meeting with Secretary of State Al Jaeger and other county auditors, she brought forth her concerns with absentee ballots.
With residents used to the 7 PM deadline, would the county still be able to collect ballots until that time. Meland says that discussion is still ongoing with the Secretary of State’s office.
She said the recommendation was to be consistent with other counties across North Dakota.
The commission unanimously approved.
Also discussed during the meeting was Stutsman County employee policy, public access to County Commission meetings, and the RTS Grade Raise on County Road 67.
