VALLEY CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) – It started on Friday, March 13th with the suspension of the State Class A and B basketball tournaments.
At the March 31st meeting, the North Dakota High School Activities Association Board of Directors voted to extend the active suspensions indefinitely.
NDHSAA Executive Director Matt Fetsch says the vote was in accordance with Governor Doug Burgum’s Executive Order 2020-10.
Fetsch says logistics will come into play when a decision is made about the upcoming season and tournaments, specially when it comes to the Fine Arts contests.
The lack of outdoor activities, the circumstances may be drastically different, but this is not completely uncharted territory. Fetsch says there is no hurry to make a decision on the future of these events.
As far as the response from member schools on the decisions made thus far by the board? Fetsch says they have been positive.
The Board’s Tournament Committee will meet to review currently suspended Winter Basketball State Tournaments and Fine Arts contests and will report back to the Board on April 14.
