JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – With almost a full week of online courses under their belt, the Jamestown Public School District continues to tweak and refine the way they bring education to students during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The biggest reason the school’s were ready so quickly with online courses was the teachers.

Jamestown Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech says one of the biggest items they’ve had to address is connectivity and internet access for Jamestown students.

Lech says these local businesses stepping up for students has been huge, but still some of the students in the district needed assistance. He says that’s where one local group stepped up.

Lech says the district is stepping up in other ways too including their daily free breakfast and lunch as well as their food pantries.

Dr. Lech added that this also includes their backpack program, which has been adjusted slightly to still give students food for the weekend.

Another important service that the school district continues to provide is their counseling services. Dr. Lech says their counselors are continuing to find ways to continue seeing their students.
