JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In an executive order by Governor Doug Burgum, all restaurants, breweries, cafes, and similar dining establishments were closed to on-sale/on-site patrons.

The executive order still allows for take-out, delivery, curbside, drive-through, or off-sale services, however there was no guidance for the sale of alcohol.

The Jamestown Finance & Legal Committee meeting discussed this, with Mayor Dwaine Heinrich explaining the reason behind the proposed temporary moratorium on the retail sale of alcoholic beverages.

Heinrich stated that they were looking to remain “fair” to establishments who sell alcohol.

With that, a local moratorium was proposed in order to allow liquor establishments sell alcohol along with the delivery of meals to individuals and families that fosters appropriate social distancing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The resolution will also allow for Mayor Heinrich to implement any further orders deemed necessary to implement or clarify the terms of the moratorium.

The proposed moratorium would remain in effect until May 4th, unless otherwise terminated or extended by the city of Jamestown.

The committee unanimously approved.

In other city news, the Jamestown Firefighters Association made a donation of $25,000 to the city of Jamestown in order to assist with the purchase of a new ladder truck for the city.
