JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math continue to be a key for student education.
Also known as STEAM, this educational guideline results in students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.
Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swelund says a community survey was created by local entities in order to gauge what the area wants to see be provided to allow for more STEAM education.
Swedlund stressed this isn’t a tourism project, but a community project from families and educators on what this would look like for Jamestown.
He says similar projects like this have been in the works across North Dakota. For Jamestown, Swedlund adds that it might come down to a partnership with an agency to create a space for STEAM learning.
Swedlund says there has been some great support for a project like this already, but the more community input they receive, the better idea they’ll have moving forward.
The survey will remain open through April 30th. You can take the survey here.
