VALLEY CITY (VCSU) – Valley City State University volleyball head coach Brigitte Greywater announced the hiring of Sherry Currie as a full-time assistant coach for the volleyball program.
Currie joins the Viking staff after more than 20 years as a teacher and coach at Park River Area Schools in Park River, N.D. She will begin at VCSU on April 1.
“Sherry brings years of experience at every level to Viking volleyball. Her fundamental training, evaluation skills, passion and energy will provide a much-needed expertise to my coaching style. Vikings Volleyball members are excited to have Sherry joining our program,” said Greywater. “Sherry has continued to be a “student of the game” throughout her years of coaching and is looking forward to embark on this new adventure.”
As the high school volleyball head coach at Park River, Currie has been named North Dakota Coach of the Year, District Coach of the Year, and twice named Region Coach of the Year. In her coaching career, she has had two teams place third at the state tournament and two teams place fifth. She has also worked as a track and field coach at Park River.
Currie graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in middle school education and minor in psychology. While she was at UND, she also competed on the volleyball and track and field teams.
Valley City State University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and a conference member of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA).
