VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Several new events during the 83rd annual NDWS were popular this year, including Battle of the Border High School Rodeo and WPRA Breakaway Roping.

Another well attended event was the King of the Sale Ring Bid Call Contest. Event coordinator Kelly Klein said the response to the Bid Call Contest surprised him and others during it’s first run at the North Dakota Winter Show on March 1st.

Klein said there were 17 auctioneers who participated in the contest. The winners in the Pro and Old Pro Division are listed below.

 

Professional Division:

Champion was Frederick Bodnarus of Saskatoon, SK. He received $1000 and a Champion Buckle.

2nd place was Andrew Jossund of Gary MN. He received $500 and a Trophy Pocket Knife.

3rd Cliff Sanders of Clifford, ND received $250 and a Trophy Mug.

The People’s Choice (voted by the crowd) went to Terry Moe of Watford City, ND

 

Old Pro Division:

(Voted by the Crowd) was Dennis Klein of LaMoure, ND. He received $250 and Trophy Mug.

 

NDWS Manager Tesa Klein said proceeds from the contest went towards NDWS Jr. High Rodeo and also given to the family that lost their home on February 26th in Valley City. A fund has been set up for the David and Lesley Erlandson Family of Valley City.
