VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Barnes County farmer Monte Peterson was elected to be the next Chairman of the Board for the U.S. Soybean Export Council at their annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas during the Commodity Classic in February of 2020.

During the annual North Dakota Agricultural Hall of Fame ceremony on March 3rd he talked about the focus of the council with reporter Steve Urness. He also said despite the challenges farmers have endured from a wet and snowy fall, many remain optimistic about the future.

Peterson is a forth generation Barnes County farmer. He and his wife Penny have two daughters and two granddaughters.
