Jamestown,N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Ellendale, Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier,  Strasburg/Zeeland and Oakes advance to the semifinals after picking up wins Monday in the quarterfinals of the Region 3 Boys basketball tournament held at the Jamestown Civic Center.

Ellendale 59, Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter 23

Ellendale jumped out to a 21-4 lead after the first quarter and held the Imperials without a field goal until there was 3:35 to go in the first half.

Jaxcen Glatt and Trenton Erbele lead N-G-S with 7 points each. Erbele had a team high eight rebounds.

Ellendale improves to 16-7 on the season, the Imperials end the season 6-16.

Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier 74, Kidder County 44

The Rebels used a 24-3 run between the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second quarter to pull away from the Wolves for the 30 point win.

With the score 6-4, E-K-M went on a 16-1 run to end the first quarter leading 22-5. They would expand that lead to 30-7 by scoring eight of the first ten points of the second quarter.

The Rebels shot 64 percent in the first half to lead 40-20 at the break.

Alex Huber led the Rebels with 18 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Adam Nitschke came off the bench to score 14 points and Jace Hanson had 10. Dalton Madcke had six points, six rebounds and seven assists for E-K-M. The Rebels improve to 18-4 on the season.

Senior Elijah Fallgatter led the Wolves with 10 points and five rebounds. The Wolves end the season 15-7.

Strasburg/Zeeland 69, LaMoure-Litchville/Marion 51

It took over 16 minutes for top-seeded Strasburg/Zeeland to grab its first lead of the night, but once the Clippers jumped ahead they put the pedal down and didn’t look back.

LLM built a 19-10 lead early in the 2nd quarter. It seemed like that lead would transfer to the 2nd half until Strasburg/Zeeland’s Jake Wagner hit a 25 footer and drew a foul to complete a four point play as the first half expired. The two teams were tied at 31, but the Clippers didn’t take long to put the game away. Strasburg/Zeeland wound up shooting 65 percent from the floor for the game and they held LLM to just 30 percent in the 2nd half.

Strasburg/Zeeland’s leading scorers were Wagner with 22 points and Mac Kramer with 21 points and five made 3’s. Corban Potts led the way for LLM with 14 points.

LLM finishes its season with a 12-11 record.

Oakes 67, Linton/HMB 60

The final game of the night featured the closest contest. Oakes opened up an 11 point lead in the first half but Linton/HMB, led by Lucas Schumacher, never went away.

Schumacher kept the Lions on life support for most of the 2nd half and ended up with a tournament high 35 points and 22 of those coming in the 2nd half. Schumacher’s heroics weren’t enough, however.

A couple of times in the 3rd and 4th quarters, Linton/HMB closed to gap to a couple possessions and as slim as three points but never could get over the hump. It seemed that anytime Schumacher hit a shot Oakes would answer immediately to pad its lead. Steele Hansen had a big hand in that as the junior poured in a team high 27 points in the victory.

Linton/HMB’s season is over at 13-10.

Tuesday’s semifinals features three teams from District 5 with one lone survivor out of District six. Here are the games and times.
