BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The talk of the West Region Tournament had been the hand injury that has sidelined Jamestown’s leading scorer Boden Skunberg, but its now the cardiac Blue Jays who won yet another overtime game to advance to the West Region title game for the third consecutive year.
The Jays held off Mandan 74-71 for their seventh straight win over the Braves in their eighth meeting since 2/20/18. “When Boden went down there were a lot of teams that were licking their chops and thinking we’d be an easy out,” head coach Jacoby Lloyd said after the game. “But these kids have shown a tremendous amount of heart.”
Brooks Carroll lead the Jays with 24 points while knocking down six triples. Carson Lamp, who had all 12 in overtime on Thursday night, had seven in the extra session tonight.
Jamestown will advance to the West Region title game and the state tournament next week in Fargo. The Jays will play the winner of Bismarck and Minot at 7:45pm on Saturday night.
