VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota,com) – Coming off its sixth Eastern Dakota Conference title in seven years, the Valley City Hi-Liners are getting ready to compete in the State Meet this weekend in Dickinson.

The Hi-Liners scored a season high 143.525 in the EDC to win by 9.300 over Grand Forks. It was also the highest score for the Hi-Liners in the last three years in Maddie Fadely’s two years as head coach.

At the EDC meet, held in Valley City last Friday, the Hi-Liners held four of the top five spots in the All Around. They also held the the top three spots in three different events, and second and third in the other.

The Hi-Liners got off to a slow start Friday, but Coach Fadely says things turned around after ateam meeting.

Along with the seven athletes going to state for the team competition, Coach Fadely says they have a good contingent heading to state for the individual competition.

Heading into the state meet, the Hi-Liners have several girls ranked in the top ten in the state in each event. Karina Olson and Jocey Kriewald are ranked seventh and tenth respectively in the All Around.  Kriewald and Olivia Olson are sixth and eighth in the vault. Kriewald and Karina Olson are ninth and tenth in the bars. Karina Olson is seventh in the beam and second in the floor. Kriewald and Olivia Olson are eighth and tenth in the floor.

Dickinson has won the last four state titles and six of the last seven.

The team competition begins on Friday at 4pm. The individual competition begins on Saturday at 1pm.
