CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – CHI St. Alexius Health is continuing their mission of violence prevention in the area.
In 2008, CHI introduced their “United Against Violence” initiative, the first of its kind to be sponsored by a national nonprofit health system. This was their formal commitment to violence prevention.
Nicole Threadgold, Media Relations for CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington, says CHI facilities across the state continue to participate in creating a plan to prevent violence.
Threadgold added that in order to achieve this prevention, they’ve set several goals for themselves.
Local training’s are offered to local professionals and their communities. These enhance professionals on intimate partner violence, prevention techniques, screening tools, and referral procedures. This was based on a partnership with the North Dakota Council on Abused Women’s Services and Futures Without Violence.
Threadgold says they also work more specifically with community members using the “Within My Reach” program.
The program is provided through grant funding and includes Oakes, Devils Lake, Williston, Carrington, Dickinson, Lisbon, and Valley City. Threagold says they’ve seen some great success with the program.
Threadgold says for those who are interested in these services are welcome to contact her at 701-652-7248.
