FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – With a father, brother and uncles all winning state championships, there may have been some pressure on Parker Larson to win one of his own his senior year. And he did.
Larson defeated Chase Burke of Minot 10-3 in the finals at 160, to earn a state title of his own at the State Wrestling tournament in Fargo on Saturday.
Parker Larson says he did not feel any pressure to add to the Larson List of state titles.
Dad and head coach Aaron Larson says there may have been a little pressure.
Parker ended the season 46-3
Koye Grebel was also in the state title match and lost a heartbreaking 3-2 decision to LJ Araujo of Bismarck. The freshman Grebel ended the season 45-3.
The H-Liners placed ten total wrestlers at the tournament. The other eight were, Ethan Miller at 113, Bennett Rogelstad at 120, Austin Rogelstad at 126, Ezra Hanse at 152, Broden Muske at 170, Jonathan Redfearn at 182, Jonah Schuldheisz at 195 and Carson McGough at 220
As a team, the Hi-Liners scored 117.o points to place fifth overall in the individual tournament. They were the highest scoring team from the east. Coach Larson says what a great season.
Four seniors wrap up their Hi-Liner careers. Bennett and Austin Rogelstad, Parker Larson and Austin Hearlson.
Bismarck won the individual championship with 250.0 points, 99 more than second place Minot. It was the third year in a row and six out of seven that the Demons won the individual title. And it was the fifth time in six years they won the individual and dual titles.
Lisbon took the individual and the dual championships in class B. They scored 223.0 points. South Border took second with 197.0. It marks the Broncos fourth straight individual title and second year in a row they won both individual and dual titles.
