The Carrington wrestling team will send two grapplers into the state finals, 113 pounder and number 1 seed Treston Lura and third seeded 170 pounder Michael Clifton. Lura (51-6, junior) defeated Charlie Herr (4 seed) of South Border 5-0 to earn his state title match versus Peyton Tuhy (39-10, 2 seed) from Hettinger-Scranton. Clifton, a sophomore defeated Zach Anderson of Killdeer 3-2 to advance to his state title match against top seeded and undefeated Garrett Jangula (31-0)of Napoleon. Clifton, like Lura has an impressive 51-6 record. Carrington will have 5 other wrestlers going in the wrestle backs on Saturday, all with a chance to finish as high as 3rd pace.
Matthew Duchscherer at 120 pounds, Brecken Lura at 132, Tate Hoggarth at 160, Beau Retzlaff at 195, and Colton Buskness at 220. The Cardinals sit in fourth place overall with 91 team points, trailing third place New Salem-Almont (93.5 points) by just 2.5 points. South Border (168 points) and Lisbon (155 points) as expected are the top two teams after the second day of wrestling.
