OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Up 19 at one point, Oakes’ lead was cut down to one but no further.
With under a minute to play, Oakes So. Dalton Schmit drilled his fourth 3-pointer of the game to put the game on ice and secure a 65-59 win over the Lisbon Broncos (6-11).
Schmit, for the second straight game, posted a season high in points with 16.
Not to be outdone, Oakes Jr. Garret Meehl posted a game high 25 in the win and tied his season high with five 3-pointers.
Despite the explosive numbers put up by Schmit and Meehl, Lisbon hung around after falling behind big early on. A big reason why was Sr. Mason Lukes hitting seven 3-pointers after he missed his first two of the night. Lukes was on fire and so was his running mate Reese Homstrom. The Lisbon Sr. finished with 20 points and half of those came in the final quarter.
A thrilling five point win pushes Oakes’ record to 11-6 and a season high three game winning streak. The next time out for Oakes is at home Thursday in a Region 3 game against Linton-HMB.
