BISMARCK, N.D. (Submitted) – The Miss Bismarck-Mandan Scholarship Organization, along with the Miss Mercer County Scholarship Organization, announced their new 2020 titleholders following Sunday night’s Competition event at Simle Middle School.

11 young women were crowned, including five miss titleholders and six teen titleholders. Miss titleholders all receive a $500 scholarship, while teen titleholders receive a $200 scholarship. They will each compete in Williston in June, 2020, for Miss North Dakota or Miss North Dakota’s Outstanding Teen.

Competition winners include:

Miss State Capitol: Reyna Bergstrom, 24, Horace, ND

Miss Mercer County: Megan McCarthy, 19, Hazen, ND

Miss Bismarck: Maggie Mitzel, 17, Bismarck, ND

Miss Coal Country: Mary Jo Dunne, 19, Bismarck. ND

Miss Capital A’Fair: Julia Ressler, 19, Mandan, ND

Miss State Capitol’s Outstanding Teen: Laila Anderson, 14, Bismarck, ND

Miss Mercer County’s Outstanding Teen: AimeeGrace Wiedrich, 17, Hazen, ND

Miss Bismarck’s Outstanding Teen: Janae Weigel, 16, Kintyre, ND

Miss Coal Country’s Outstanding Teen: Charmaine Haas, 16, Napoleon, ND

Miss Northern Lights’ Outstanding Teen:  Lauren Peterson, 13, Bismarck, ND

Miss South Shore’s Outstanding Teen: Sidney Ihla, 14, Bismarck, ND

During their year as local titleholders, girls will travel throughout their region, advocating for their social impact platforms and representing their communities.

“These titleholders embody the qualities of courageous, talented, ambitious and accomplished young women,” said Amy Lunde, Bismarck-Mandan local director. “We are thrilled to be working with them this year and look forward to watching them serve and represent their communities and North Dakota.”

“To be able to crown 11 new titleholders is a tremendous testament to the strength of our state’s scholarship competition organization,” said Kimberly Zuther, Mercer County local director. “We are so proud of everyone who participated and hope this encourages other young women to enter the program.”

The Miss North Dakota Scholarship Organization provides opportunities for young women to achieve their personal and professional ambitions. Titleholders also participate in community service activities and develop leadership skills that help them excel in their chosen career and life goals. Eight princesses were also awarded a tiara for their participation.
