JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Submitted) – The Blue Jay Speech team competed against 21 schools at the St. Mary’s High School meet on February 8. With over 535 individual entries, Jamestown finished with 1 state qualifier – Ian Weis in humorous interpretation.

Individual results include:
Extemporaneous Speaking: Will Nelson 5th, Devin Manson 8th
Humorous Interpretation: Ian Weis 1st (state qualifier)
Humorous Duo: Ian Weis and Westin Walker 4th, Keelie Renwick and Paris Eslick 8th
Impromptu Speaking: Ashlyn Schauer 2nd
Radio Broadcasting: Ashlyn Schauer 3rd
Speech to Entertain: Peter Weinzerl 6th, Caden Eslick superior speaker, Paris Eslick superior speaker

On February 15, the team competed against 26 class A and B schools and over 400 entries at the annual Mandan speech meet. Ashlyn Schauer state qualified in radio broadcasting.

Dawson Mee received the effort award for the team.

The team, coached by Laura Weis, Chantel Harr, and Brittney Chandler, performs at parent’s day at Jamestown Middle School this Saturday, February 22 and will compete in Carrington on March 7.
