WAHPETON, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – To say it as Valley City’s day at the East Region Individual Wrestling Tournament on Saturday in Wahpeton, would be an understatement.
The Hi-Liners brought 17 wrestlers to the regional, 16 of those wrestlers qualified for the state tournament. More numbers, six reached the finals, five individual champs. The biggest number was 243.5 team points to take first as a team. It is the first time in school history the Hi-Liners won the team portion of the individual tournament. Head coach Aaron Larson says they knew if that was going to be accomplished, some wrestlers would have to come through.

Along with Bennett Rogelstad and Schuldheisz, the other champions were Koye Grebel at 106, Ethan Miller at 113, and Parker Larson at 160. For Larson it was his fifth EDC championship in six appearances in the finals.
The other state qualifiers are Isaiah Schuldheisz at 126, Espen Kunze at 132, Evan Mielke at 138, Tyson Hovland at 145, Ezra Hanse at 152, Broden Muske at 170, Jonathan Redfearn at 182, and Austin Hearlson at 285. Now you can add Alex Rogelstad to that list. He will be in the state tournament due to the injury to Connor Manske. Manske of West Fargo, was injured in the championship match against Ethan Miller.
