JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota National Guard will conduct flood response training on Thursday, Feb. 13 at the Jamestown Civic Center in Jamestown.
This Rehearsal of Concept exercise, or ROC, serves as a mechanism to refine and validate flood response plans in order to maintain a high level of readiness.
About 50 Soldiers and Airmen from the North Dakota National Guard will exercise command and control during the hypothetical flood response. Representatives of the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services (NDDES) are also participating to exercise the process of assigning response missions to the Guard. This ROC serves as a nexus for information sharing, personnel and equipment tracking during a flood response.
When activated by the governor in response to requests through the NDDES, the North Dakota National Guard serves as the first military responders during a natural disaster or emergency within the state.
