JAMESTOWN, N.D. (JimmieAthletics.com) – The University of Jamestown basketball teams each ran their win streaks to three games with victories over Mount Marty on Wednesday night at Newman Arena.

WBB: Jimmies 64, Mount Marty 48. 

The University of Jamestown women’s basketball team outscored Mount Marty (S.D.) College 41-19 in the second half in a 64-48 win over the Lancers Wednesday night at Harold Newman Arena.

Jamestown improves to 16-9 overall and 9-8 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference while Mount Marty falls to 12-12 overall and 6-11 in the GPAC.

Mount Marty led 29-23 at the half despite shooting 9-for-28 overall while the Jimmies were 7-of-29.

UJ broke out in the third quarter, making 10 of 25 field goals, including four three-pointers. The Jimmies took a ten-point lead after Olivia Anderson (SR/Edgeley, ND) knocked down a three to make it 45-35 with 1:27 in the third.

After the Lancers made it a 55-47 with 4:08 to play, UJ went on a 9-1 run to finish the game, with seven of their points coming from the foul line. Mount Marty went without a field goal for the final 4:08, missing their final six shot attempts.

Kia Tower (FR/Bigfork, MN) had 15 points to pace the Jimmie offense. Emma Stoehr (JR/Woodbury, MN) was also in double figures with 10 points. The trio of Anderson, Macy Nilsen (FR/Edina, MN), and Courtney Mosloski (SR/Fairmont, MN) all chipped in with eight. Mosloski pulled down nine rebounds and Noelle Josephson (SO/Ramsey, MN) passed out five assists.

Jamie Tebben had 15 and nine rebounds for Mount Marty. Ali Kuca was also in double figures with 12.

The Jimmies are on the road Saturday at Hastings (Neb.) with game time set for 1 p.m.

Jack Talley (JR/Sioux Falls, SD) and Mason Walters (FR/Jamestown, ND) recorded double-doubles to help lead the University of Jamestown men’s basketball team to a 94-82 upset victory over 17th-ranked Mount Marty (S.D.) College Wednesday night at Harold Newman Arena.

Talley finished with 29 points and 10 rebounds while Walters came off the bench to score 19, grab 12 boards, and dish out a team-best six assists. Brady Birch (JR/Melrose, MN) (eight points) just missed out on a double-double of his own, pulling down a game-high 15 rebounds.

Seven lead changes and three ties punctuated the first 4:23 of the game as a Jack Frazier (SR/Salem, OR) three gave UJ a 12-11 lead.

A 10-0 Mount Marty run lasting 2:33 gave the visitors a 21-12 advantage, prompting a time out by the Jimmies.

Following the time out, Jamestown responded with 14 of the next 17 points to pull ahead 26-24 at the 7:35 mark of the half.

Mount Marty took its final lead of the half, and what would eventually be their last of the game, following a Jordan Johnson three pointer that made it 32-31.

Back-to-back buckets by Birch and three-pointers by Frazier and Marc Kjos (FR/Lake City, MN) capped a 10-0 run to close the half and gave UJ a 41-32 lead at the break.

Walters knocked down a three-pointer to give Jamestown a 13-point advantage just over five minutes into the second half, and the Jimmies kept the lead between six and 12 points for the next 10 minutes. The Lancers were able to cut the deficit to as few as six with 5:17 to play, but Terrell Alfred (SR/Orlando, FL) sank three-pointers on consecutive trips down the floor to double the UJ lead.

Alfred and Isaiah Dobson (SR/Stillwater, MN) joined Talley and Walters in double figures with 12 points each.

Keegan Savary was one of five Lancers in double figures with 19 points.

Jamestown (17-8, 8-7 Great Plains Athletic Conference) travels to Hastings (Neb.) College Saturday for a 3 p.m. game.
