James River Figure Skating Club Competes in Grand Forks

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James River Figure Skating Club, coached by Mark Vasarhelyi, attended its third competition of the season at the East Grand Forks 29th Annual Northern Star International Skating Competition on January 23-26. Over 200 skaters ages 6-18 from 14 skating clubs competed in 5 different events over the weekend.

Individual results include:

Karla Sherfy – 1st in Excel Juvenile Free Skate, 3rd in Pre-Juvenile Compulsory Moves, 1st in Pre-Juvenile Spins, 6th in Pre-Juvenile Showcase Light Entertainment;
Gabby Tweten – 1st in Excel Intermediate Plus Free Skate, 1st in Pre-Juvenile Showcase Dramatic Entertainment, 3rd in Intermediate Compulsory Moves, 3rd in Intermediate Spins, 1st in Intermediate Showcase Dramatic Entertainment;
Ella Grosulak – 5th in Excel Preliminary Free Skate, 6th in Excel Preliminary Compulsory Moves, ;
Keira Lambrecht – 3rd in Excel Beginner Compulsory Moves, 3rd in Excel Beginner Free Skate, 1st in Beginner Showcase Light Entertainment;
Synneva Sortland – 6th in Pre-Juvenile Compulsory Moves, 2nd in Excel Pre-Juvenile Free Skate, 3rd in Pre-Juvenile Showcase Light Entertainment;
Avery Graves – 2nd in Excel Preliminary Free Skate, 2nd in Excel Preliminary Compulsory Moves, 2nd in Preliminary Showcase Light Entertainment;
Siri Tweten – 3rrd in Excel Beginner Compulsory Moves, 1st in Excel Beginner Free Skate, 2nd in Beginner Showcase Light Entertainment;
Reece Heery – 3rd in Excel High Beginner Free Skate, 2nd in Excel High Beginner Compulsory Moves, 5th in High Beginner Showcase Light Entertainment.

Three skaters traveled to Duluth, Minnesota, to attend the 40th Annual Northland Competition January 30-February 1. 475 skaters from 50 different skating clubs competed. JRFSC individual results include:

Synneva Sortland– 4th in Pre-Juvenile Compulsory Moves, 2nd in Excel Pre-Juvenile Free Skate, 4th in Pre-Juvenile Showcase Light Entertainment;
Avery Graves – 3rd in Excel Preliminary Compulsory Moves, 1st Excel Preliminary Free Skate, 6th Preliminary Showcase Light Entertainment
Jacie Bear– 7th in Excel Beginner Free Skate, 2nd Excel Beginner Compulsory Moves, 2nd No Test Light Entertainment
