WEST FARGO, N.D (special to NewsDakota.com) -The Valley City High School Hi-Liner Speech team had a successful start of their travel season this past Saturday, February 1st when they traveled to the West Fargo High School Packer Speech Invitational.
The Hi-Liners did not travel the last two weekends due to the blizzard on the weekend of January 18th and the Cafe Concert on the weekend of January 25th.
At the Packer Speech Invite the Hi-Liners placed 1st out of 8 teams with 246 sweepstakes points ahead of 2nd place Enderlin-MV (118 points) and West Fargo Sheyenne (61 points). Altogether, the Hi-Liners qualified 9 events to the NDHSAA State Class Tournament in April.

Next up for the VCHS Hi-Liner Speech Team is the Saint Mary’s Central Capital City Lion’s Speech Tournament this Saturday at SMCHS High School in Bismark. It will be the first time, VCHS sees a lot of schools from the Western side of the state. It will be the largest tournament, VCHS attends all year.
