JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown approved the issuance of bonds by Cass County on behalf of Essentia Health and its affiliates Monday evening.
Kyle Dorow, Vice President of Finance for Essentia Health, stated the item needed the city’s approval before moving forward between Cass County, Valley City, Wahpeton and Jamestown.
Dorow pointed out that the approval by Jamestown and the other communities would provide Cass County the opportunity to issue bonds at a lower interest rate.
Andy Askew, Vice President of Public Policy for Essentia Health, says Jamestown was one of the four cities that agreed to the initial joint powers agreement.
Dorow says all liabilities with bonds and debt belonged solely to Essentia Health. The agreement would replace the previous joint agreement. Attorney Abbagail Geroux pointed out that she had worked on the agreement, which was focused on one project.
The Jamestown City Council unanimously approved.
In other city business, the council approved to sign and submit an SRF Clean Water Application to the North Dakota Health Department and ND Public Finance Authority for water main improvements, established a resolution to authorize, direct and establish storage fees for abandoned and impounded vehicles, and entered into an Agency Access Agreement with the State of North Dakota for electronic online access to the ND Criminal Justice Information Sharing Portal.
