JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The 14th Annual Polar Pig Walk the Plank was held in Jamestown Saturday, February 1st.

The event, which first started as an activity during Cabin Fever Days, has since raised more than $200,000 for the Jamestown Regional Medical Center Home Health & Hospice Program. Organizer Don Wegner was pleased with their turnout.

Wegner says they didn’t have final totals raised, but believes they crossed the $200,000 milestone over the course of the fundraiser.

A big boost to the event this year came from Chad Henningsgard of Valley City. Hennginsgard first jumped in the Polar Pig in 2014, collecting more than $1,500 in donations from businesses and individuals. This year, he raised more than $3,000.

He says he wanted to help because he’s had experience with the hospice program after his uncle passed away.

Henningsgard says he’s already got his sights on topping this years money raised for next year.
