JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The NDHSAA Board of Directors approved new guidelines for the 2021-2022 football seasons that would be sending Jamestown High back to Class AA. Jamestown spent two seasons (2017 and 2018) at the second-highest level before returning to Class AAA in 2019.

The new Class AA would have a completely different look from the first time Jamestown dropped down.  The top-two classes would consist of “Class A schools” with an enrollment of more than 160 boys for two consecutive years. The two top divisions will be divided on the median enrollment with the option that some teams can move down based on certain criteria.

There are criteria for teams being forced to move up if they reach certain levels of success. You can view the full plan here.

The first year of the plan, without considering West Fargo Horace or teams opting up/down, the top two divisions would look like this:

Class AAA: Bismarck, Century, Legacy, Dickinson, Williston, Mandan, Fargo Davies, Minot, GF Central, West Fargo, Sheyenne.

Class AA: Fargo North, GF Red River, Fargo South, Jamestown, Watford City, Devils Lake, Fargo Shanley, Valley City, Wahpeton, St. Mary’s, Turtle Mountain
