JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A scam being reported around the Buffalo City involves a fake fundraiser for the Jamestown Firehall.

The Jamestown Police Department reports that the scam involves someone calling residents to scam them for money for a fundraiser.

“Do not send money to someone you’ve never met face to face,” the department states. “Don’t believe everything you see. Email addresses, phone numbers, logos, and websites can all be mimicked.”

The department also encourages you to not share personal identification information either.

“If they ask for gift cards, iTunes cards, prepaid debit cards, or wire transfers, they are not legit.”
