VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Riley Gerhardt has decided to stay home. At a signing ceremony Wednesday, The Valley City senior linebacker put his signature on a Letter of Intent to play football at Valley City State University.
Gerhardt will leave Valley City high school as the career leader in total tackles with 350 and the single season record holder with 127 tackles which he set in 2018. Gerhardt says its good to get this decision made, know he can move on.
VCSU head football coach Dennis McCullouch knows what kind of a player and person they are getting in Gerhardt.
Gerhardt says his expectation early in high school were high, but he likes the decision he made today.
Gerhardt says he is happy to be able to continue his football career at home.

Gerhardt led the Hi-Liners with 122 tackles this season 61 solo and 61 assist. He had five tackles for loss, one interception and was on an offensive line that blocked for a 1,000 yard rusher in Max Fehr.
Gerhardt was named to his second All-State team.
