CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Senior Kiera Eli dropped in seven 3-pointers and ended up with 27 points to help the Cardinals of Carrington defeat the Tornadoes of Oakes 56-36 Thursday night in Class B District 5 girls basketball. Carrington improves to 4-0 in D5 and 11-2 overall and have won five in a row, Oakes drops to 4-1 in D5 and 9-3 overall and their five game winning streak comes to an end.
The Cardinals led by five at the break, 27-22, but outscored Oakes 17-5 in the third quarter to pull away for the victory. Leading the way for Oakes was Freshman Laikyn Roney with 11 points.
Next up for RV Carrington will be on Saturday, Jan. 25th at No. 3 Rugby, next up for Oakes will be also on Saturday at home against Lisbon.
