DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Devils Lake jumped out to a 22-0 lead to start the game and held Valley City scoreless for the first 5:12 of the game and cruised to a 73-41 win Monday Night in girls basketball.

The Hi-Liners did not score until Peyton Pederson hit two free throws with 12:48 left in the first half. Their first field goal came 2:18 later with a Brooke Eggermont basket.

Jailyn Martinson scored 15 of her game high 17 points in the first half when the Firebirds built a 48-22 lead. Abby Johnson had 14 points and Ramsey Brown scored nine for Devils Lake.

Valley City was led by Brooke Eggermont with 14 points. Jadyn Dieterle added 12.

Valley City falls to 4-5 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and 5-6 overall. The second ranked Firebirds improve to 8-0 overall and in the EDC.
