VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – One trip with the United Service Organization (USO) inspired Jerrod Niemann to write what he considers one of his best songs.

‘Old Glory’ was written as a tribute to our servicemen and women after Niemann was hit hard with news from those around him.

Niemann says that news report added fuel to the proverbial fire and says the song just “started falling out.”

Niemann says after performing the song for troopers, he says it quickly became his favorite song he’s created.

Now a veteran of several USO Tours, Niemann says he has no plans to stop as he prepares for his third tour with the USO.

And that beer offer? Niemann says he’s been taken up on that a time or two.
