VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – All four of the higher seeds were winners at day two of the 103rd Barnes County Tournament. Today’s schedule has been canceled due to the weather. The games have been moved to Monday January 20th with the 7th place game beginning at noon.

Milnor/North Sargent 60, Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page 51

Milnor/North Sargent outscored Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page 27-9 over the final 8:10 Thursday night, rallying from a 42-33 deficit for a 60-51 victory.

Matthew Asche beat the third quarter buzzer with a 3-pointer to pull within 42-36, and then it was all Bulldogs in the fourth quarter as they advanced to the consolation championship.

Milnor/North Sargent will now play Barnes County North in the consolation title game on Friday at 1:30 p.m. FSHP will face Sargent Central for seventh place at 12 p.m.

Micah Anderson led the Bulldogs with 21 points on Thursday, while Mason Bogart had 18 points and nine rebounds. Asche finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Anderson, Bogart and Asche all made three 3-pointer each as the Bulldogs went 9-for-23 from 3-point range.

Finley-Sharon/Hope Page held a 30-22 lead at halftime and led by as many as 13 points in the third quarter before the big Bulldog rally. Landon Koenig had a big game for the Spartans, posting 16 points and eight rebounds. Dalton Stein scored 11 points, and Owen Zerface added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Barnes County North 57, Sargent Central 35

Four Bison scored in double figures Thursday as BCN rolled to a 57-35 victory in the consolation semifinals. Barnes County North trailed 17-12 early in the second quarter, but closed the first half with an 18-3 run and then outscored the Cadets 18-6 in the third quarter to build a commanding 48-25 lead entering the final period.

Tristin Roaldson poured in 16 points and dished out five assists to lead BCN. Colby Bruner added 12 points and six rebounds, while Max Fehr chipped in 11 points and Tucker Brown had 10 points and four assists. The Bison shot 46 percent from the field and 83 percent on free throws.

Jayden Hajek led the Cadets with 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting. Dillon Schreiner added six points and four assists.

BCN will now play Milnor/North Sargent in the consolation championship on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Sargent Central will play FSHP for seventh place at 12 p.m. Friday.

Enderlin Eagles  52     LaMoure–Litchville–Marion (LMM) Loboes  43
Defending champion LMM erased a 9 point first half deficit (19-10) outscoring Enderlin 15-3 to end the half with a 25-22 lead. The lead wouldn’t hold up for the Loboes as top seeded Enderlin (ranked number 3 in state class B) outscored LMM 30-18 in the second half to advance to the title game. Joeseph Hurlburt  (6’10” sophomore) had a game high 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 steals to lead the Eagles to the victory. Twin brother, Gustave Hurlburt (6’8″ sophomore) added 8 points and a game high 5 assists. Austin Glarum added 11 points for the Eagles. Corban Potts and Rory Gentzkow both scored a game high 16 points for the Loboes and Gentzkow added a team high 7 rebounds. The Loboes were held to 24% shooting (6-25) in the second half. Enderlin improves to 8-0 and LMM dropped to 4-4.
Maple Valley (MV) Raiders 57     Griggs County Central (GCC)  46
MV jumped out to a 20-8 first quarter lead and led 33-19 at halftime before GCC made a second half run. Senior Adam Punton had a game high 23 points and Evan Richman added 13 points and a game high 14 rebounds to pace the Raiders win. Carson Hovelson added 11 points for the Raiders. Hunter Gronneberg scored 18 points for GCC and added 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Tanner Haugen added 12 points and 6 rebounds and Jaxon Gronneberg added  9 points for the Cougars. Maple Valley improved to 4-4 and GCC dropped to 3-6.
GCC will play LaMoure-Litchville/Marion at 3pm in the 3rd place game. Enderlin and Maple Valley will follow in the championship at 4:30. All games can be heard on Q101/newsdakota.com
