JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown will be researching storage fees for impounded vehicles.

The discussion came about during the Police & Fire Committee meeting Thursday. A draft resolution was brought forward to consider making impound and administrative fees be $45 per day beginning when the vehicle is first impounded and from midnight each day thereafter

City Administrator Sarah Hellekson.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger stated he was reviewing the impound and towing ordinances.

Chief Edinger pointed out that the ordinance was last reviewed in 1988.

Councilmember Dan Buchanan stated the timing of the ordinance review was important considering the recent snowfall and issues with snow removal.

Councilwoman Pam Phillips stated they should maybe start looking at implementing more measures when it comes to snow removal.

Hellekson added that the ordinance also allows some to just give up their vehicle due to monetary restrictions.

Councilmember Steve Brubakken stated they had began addressing snow removal process and have gone over numerous items.

Councilmember Dave Steele pointed out that it also came down to cost for the city.

City lots were also discussed, with a suggestion to be making parking along the fence in the city parking lots mandatory during a snow emergency.

City Attorney Leo Ryan also offered up another suggestion.
