JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Here are the Friday results from the 2020 Stutsman County Invitational Class B Boys Basketball tournament held at the Jamestown Civic Center.
Carrington 49 Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 39
Senior Seth Nelson poured in 29 points, pulled down 14 rebounds, blocked five shots and had two steals to help the Cardinals of Carrington get their first victory of the year and improve to 1-6 overall. The Imperials were led by Jaxcen Glatt with 12 and drop to 0-6 overall.
Medina/Pingree/Buchanan 54 South Border 28
Michael Thomas had 16 points, Josh Moser added 13 points and 11 rebounds to help the Thunder defeat the Mustangs in the second consolation game of the day. MPB improves to 2-4 overall, SB drops to 0-4 overall. The Mustangs were led by Ty Buchholz with nine points.
Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier (EKM) Rebels 56 Kidder County (KC) Wolves 50 (OT)
EKM outscored KC 8-2 in the overtime session and defeated the Wolves 56-50. KC tied the game in regulation with 3.6 seconds left to play on a Payton Cauthon basket. Alex Huber had a game high 19 points and 8 rebounds for the Rebels and teammate added 15 points, 4 assists, and 8 rebounds.
KC was paced by Jonah Harter with 11 points and 10 points each from Elijah Fallgatter and Parker Hager. EKM improved to 5-1 and KC dropped to 4-2 on the season. Both of KC losses this year have been to EKM by 6 points in both games. KC was the defending Stutsman County champions.
Ellendale Cardinals 53 Midkota Mustangs 33
The defending Region 3 champs held Midkota to 33 points on 27% shooting (13/48) and cruised to a 53-33 semifinal victory. Scott Wagner (6’7″ sophomore) had a game high 30 points and 13 rebounds to pace the Cardinals offensively. Hunter Thorpe added 8 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists for the Cardinals. Jacob Johnson had 11 points and 5 rebounds for the Mustangs and teammate Logan Topp finished with 8 points and had 5 steals and 3 assists. Midkota dropped to 2-3 and Ellendale remains perfect on the year at 5-0.
