JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Great Plains Housing Authority (GPHA) is currently accepting applications for their Section 8 Program.

The program provides residents a rent assistance voucher if they qualify, allowing them to receive assistance for their families in the private rental market through the Housing Assistance Payments Program (HAP).

GPHA Director David Klein says the program will assist income eligible participants.

Deputy Director Cassie DuBray says the program will provide a lot of opportunity for future tenants in their service region.

DuBray says the private market are non-subsidized buildings with private owners. Because the process could take some time, she encourages anyone who may meet the program standards to consider applying for the vouchers.

DuBray says GPHA will work with interested individuals through the process, which she says could be anywhere from 2 to 3 months.

Klein says the funds are dedicated use and is delegated by congress. He says it’s important that they use as much funding allocated to the program as possible.
