JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown passed a resolution Monday night urging the state to participate in replacing the decommissioned ladder truck.

The ladder truck has been a topic of conversation within the city for the past few months with Fire Chief Jim Reuther leading the charge.

The state of North Dakota provided a ladder truck to the Jamestown Fire Department for the past 90 years. With the program over, it’s left the department and city without a ladder truck.

Councilmember Dan Buchanan read the resolution before the council, pointing out that it would cost the city a minimum of $1.3 million to purchase a replacement truck.

Buchanan says without the ladder truck, it compromises the City’s ability to fulfill its mission of providing fire and rescue services throughout the entire city and surrounding communities.

He says since the truck is a State owned unit, the City neither depricipated nor budgeted to replace the State’s ladder truck.

The council unanimously approved the resolution.

In other business, the city of Jamestown discussed approving a bill of sale between the City and Karen George for the personal property including livestock described as five ponies, one horse, and three goats, all acquired from the Frontier Village Association.
