SIBLEY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The 37th annual Lake Ashtabula Ice Fishing Derby set for January 11th has been canceled due to unsafe ice conditions.

Co-event coordinator Jay Holm said they checked ice conditions on Wednesday, January 1st and determined it would be too risky.

The annual event is sponsored by the Barnes County Wildlife Federation.
