JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Residents continue to dig themselves out and crews are working overtime following a major winter storm in Jamestown.

The Bismarck National Weather Service reports that around 16 inches of snow fell in Jamestown, with other areas south receiving 20 inches or more.

The Jamestown Police Department was also busy during this time, responding to more than 45 calls during the winter event.

Lt. Sid Mann reports that there were 5 property crashes, 8 snow removal local ordinance violations, 19 motorist assists, 10 non moving/traffic hazards with 3 towed due to circumstances, 4 welfare checks, and 2 personal assists.

“It’s hard to say that these are the final numbers for those who needed assistance,” Major Justin Blinsky pointed out. “There were some who may have called for assistance, but were able to get out of their situation before police could arrive.”

Jamestown Police remind residents that when no travel is advised to stay home while crews work on clearing roads.
