GRAND FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A Winter Storm is hitting eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota.
The National Weather Service says wind gusts of over 40 mph are creating white out conditions, especially in open country.
Additional snowfall of 6 to 12 inches through 6 am Monday is in the forecast for parts of northern Minnesota into the Red River Valley and southeast North Dakota. Travel is difficult to impossible in many areas.
Ice accumulation of over 0.10 is possible with this storm in parts of west central Minnesota this afternoon and tonight. Sporadic power outages are possible in areas where ice will accumulate.
If you are traveling bring a winter survival kit, stay inside your vehicle if you get stranded. Your chances for survival increase dramatically if you stay in your vehicle.
